Fortunately, Facebook has provided a way to export your Facebook content for a number of years. They recently added the ability format your metadata in JSON notation which makes it easier for services like Deplatformr to re-purpose it.
The process is quite simple and illustrated below.

1.b) Select Your Facebook Information and then the Download Your Information option.

1.c) In the Request Copy section, select the following options:

1.e) Facebook begins to prepare your download package.

2.b) Facebook will send you a notification email letting you know when your download package is available. You will also see a notification pop-up in Facebook if you are logged in at this time.

3.a) Login to Facebook and return to Settings > Your Facebook Information > Download Your Information.
This time select the Available Copies tab to the right of Request Copy.
Press the Download button.

3.b) Enter your Facebook password.

3.c) Choose a place on your computer to save the .zip file containing your Facebook content and metadata.
