A boat overloaded with moviegoers sank in a canal in southern Andhra Pradesh state, and at least 20 people drowned, Indian news agencies said Friday. The boat was carrying 70 people at the time of the accident in the Yenamadaru canal late Thursday, said Press Trust of India. The bodies of 17 victims _ 10 women, three men and four children _ have been recovered, district officials told the United News of India news agency. The accident site is about 800 miles southeast of New Delhi. District authorities have issued warrants for the arrest of two boatmen absconding after the accident, UNI said. They have been charged with causing the accident because of negligence and overloading, the news agency said.
